CAF Unveils “ASSAD” As Official Mascot For AFCON 2025

The Confederation of African Football (CAF), in collaboration with the Local Organising Committee, has officially unveiled ASSAD as the official mascot for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Inspired by Morocco’s iconic Atlas Lion, Assad which means “lion” in Arabic symbolises strength, pride and cultural authenticity, reflecting the true spirit of African football.
The mascot is designed to bring energy, joy and unity to the tournament, engaging fans across stadiums, fan zones and host communities while promoting youth and grassroots football development across the continent.
CAF praised Morocco for delivering a symbol that mirrors the country’s rich heritage, creativity and deep passion for football.
Renowned for its culture, warmth and innovation, Morocco has continued to set high standards in how Africa celebrates the beautiful game by blending tradition with modern excellence on the global stage.
With Assad leading the celebrations, AFCON Morocco 2025 is expected to be a vibrant, iconic and unforgettable edition of Africa’s biggest football festival.
