South African women's teams continue their recent dominance over Nigeria's women on Monday in the 2022 Women's Champions League in Morocco as Mamelodi Sundowns beat Bayelsa Queens 2-1, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Both teams clashed in the opening group B game in Marrakesh and it was the defending champions that came out victorious.

The Nigerian side dominated the game in the first half but it was Sundowns that scored through Lelona Dawetti and ensuring a lead going into the half time.

The Prosperity Girls continued their dominance in the second stanza but Dawetti found a way to complete her brace before Mary-Magdalene Anjor halved the deficit for Bayelsa Queens later in the game.

The Nigeria champions will another chance to redeem their image when they face TP Mazembe in the second group match on Thursday.
