CAFCC: "How We Defeated ASEC Mimosa" - Stanley Eguma

The Technical Adviser of Rivers United, Stanley Eguma, has revealed how they secured a comprehensive victory over ASEC Mimosa of Coted'Ivoire, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerian champions on Sunday walloped the Ivorians 3-0 at the Goodswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo in the second group game of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Eguma said they studied the Ivorian champions in the first half and got them on the counter.

" It was a good game and I commend our opponents, they did well. ASEC is a big team, they are former African champions and being in the same group meant we have a strong opponent. After what happened in Congo, we fashioned another strategy to be able to nick a victory today.

"When the game started, we have the upper hand and when we scored they took over the game, they had more possession and played compact games. In the first half, we studied the way they played and in the second half we find a way to stop them and we were able I increase our tally.

"We are looking for a victory that is important and then goals. I commend the players and management for their preparations for this game.

"We absorbed the pressure and went on the counter, we almost get the 4th goal in the process, so it was a planned arrangement", he said.
