Nigeria’s representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup, Abia Warriors and Kwara United, will still smile to the bank despite crashing out of the competition, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Abia Warriors bowed out after a 2-1 aggregate defeat to Djoliba of Mali, while Kwara United, popularly known as the Afonja Warriors, suffered a 5-3 loss to Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko.

On Tuesday, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that clubs eliminated in the preliminary rounds of its inter-club competitions will each receive an additional $50,000, on top of the $50,000 participation fee already guaranteed.

This means both Abia Warriors and Kwara United will pocket $100,000 each, a financial boost that should help cushion the blow of their early exits.
