The technical adviser of the Nigeria champions Rivers United Stanley Eguma has admitted that Daibles Noirs of Congo deserved their late equaliser, BSNSports.com.ng report.

The Pride of Rivers played out a 2-2 draw against the Congolese in the match day 5 of the CAF confederation cup at the Goodswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo on Sunday.

Noirs got their opening goal in the 27th minute but two goals from Joseph Onoja and Nyima Nwagua gave the Nigerian the lead before Bassiga drew the away side level again.

While reacting to the game, Eguma pointed out that there was a loophole in their defence and the Congolese capitalised on it to get their equaliser.

" It was tough and difficult game, actually, we expected it because we knew our opponent needed this game to qualify but we knew that we have to give our best for us to be able to forge ahead.

I was surprised when they scored the first goal, I thanked my players for showing character in the second half, scoring an equaliser and going ahead, it was a good one.

Unfortunately, we gave in to their late equaliser, they deserved it because there was a loophole in our defence, and they capitalised on it and got the equaliser", he said.
