Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has expressed strong confidence that his side will overcome Kwara United in the first preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Porcupine Warriors are returning to continental football for the first time since 2022 after clinching last season’s Ghana FA Cup title.

Kotoko will host the Nigerian side in the first leg between September 19 and 21, before travelling for the decisive return match in Nigeria from September 26 to 28. Zito, who guided Dreams FC to the semifinals of the competition two seasons ago, believes his team has what it takes to progress.

“Every club that qualifies for this competition is a good team. I faced Kwara United during my time with Dreams FC. They’re tough opponents. But we will do everything possible to eliminate them,” he told the club’s media.

The Ghanaian giants are determined to make a strong statement on their return to the continental stage.

Victory over Kwara United would set up a mouth-watering second preliminary round clash against Moroccan heavyweights Wydad Casablanca.
