CAFCC: Kotoko Laments Poor Treatment In Nigeria

Asante Kotoko’s Director of Communications, Sarfo Duku, has expressed disappointment over the team’s unpleasant travel experience in Nigeria ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round second-leg clash with Kwara United, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Ghanaian champions arrived in Lagos on Friday before embarking on a two-hour road journey to Abeokuta, the venue for Sunday’s decisive encounter.

Speaking to Luv FM, Duku criticized the condition of the buses arranged by Kwara United officials, describing them as substandard compared to the reception Kotoko gave their Nigerian counterparts in Accra.

“It was just a 45-minute flight from Accra to Lagos. When we landed, Kwara officials provided buses to convey us to Abeokuta, but they were nowhere near the level of comfort we offered them in Accra. Unfortunately, the buses were old, lacked air conditioning, and we had no choice but to use them. We are now relying on our own buses,” he said.

He further disclosed that the team eventually switched to their own transportation after some players struggled to cope with the discomfort.

“Some of our tall players found it very difficult to adjust because of the cramped seats. It was really terrible,” he added.
