The second Nigeria representative in the CAF Confederation Cup Plateau United lived up to the expectations at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja with a 4-1 win over Al Akhdar of Libya, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Just like Rivers United, Plateau United dominated the game and their efforts off paid earlier with an opening goal from Mustapha Yuga in the 27th minute.

Ifeanyi Emmanuel added the second goal just before halftime and handed the host a well-deserved 2-0 lead.

The Nigeria Football Federation President Ibrahim Gasau was at the venue of the game and was spotted in the team dressing room giving the players a pep talk ahead of the second half.

Albert Hilary netted the third goal in the 53rd minute but the assistant referee flagged him offside.

But Hilary finally scored a fantastic acrobatic goal in the 75th minute and made it 3-0 for the host.

The away side reduced the deficit in the 85th minute before Hilary completed his brace in the 90th minute and secured a 4-1 win for the Nigeria side.

Al Akhdar will Plateau United next week in the reverse fixture.

Following his amiable contributions to the team, FC Porto manager Sergio Conceicao has heaped praises on injured Nigeria's Super Eagles defender Zaidu Sanusi, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Portuguese champions on Tuesday defeated Atletico Madrid 2-1 to proceed into the knockout round of the Champions League.

The Nigeria international was unable to finish the game due to an injury he sustained in the 53rd minute.

"We had the idea of passing a message to Zaidu and the assist came from him, he's been criticised for not being as gifted as so many people think he should be, but he has other fantastic things.

" If he had good technics people wish he had, he would play for the best club in the world, which for me is FC Porto, but not in terms of money.

"The moment of the match is how the goal came, thanks to his good technique, Zaidu has kept improving", he said.

The Nigerian defender is set to miss the club game this weekend as his level of injury is yet to be determined.
