The management of nine-time Nigerian champions Enyimba FC has clarified why the team's contingent encountered difficulties while travelling to Mozambique for their CAF Confederation Cup encounter, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Enyimba FC is at risk of elimination from the 2024/25 CAF Confederation Cup after two consecutive defeats.

The People's Elephant suffered a 3-0 loss to Black Bulls FC in their Group D clash.

The statement reads: "Enyimba FC wishes to address recent misconceptions and misgivings surrounding the team’s travel arrangements from Maputo, Mozambique, after our CAF Confederation Cup Group D Matchday 3 fixture against Black Bulls FC.

"Our journey home encountered unforeseen challenges due to the heightened demand for air travel during the festive season, a situation that created significant difficulties in securing a unified travel arrangement for the entire team. The global surge in passenger traffic during this period, coupled with limited flight availability, made it impossible to obtain clustered tickets for all members of the delegation.

"As a result, and in our commitment to ensuring the safe return of players and officials, the club had no alternative but to split the team into two travel groups. This decision was made purely out of necessity and beyond our immediate control, as all efforts to secure a single-batch travel arrangement proved unfeasible amidst the yuletide rush.

"It is important to emphasize that this situation is not reflective of any lapses in planning or management on the part of Enyimba FC. Instead, it is a direct consequence of the logistical constraints presented by the overwhelming rush for air tickets, particularly on the Ethiopia Airlines route used for the trip.

"We deeply regret any concerns or misconceptions this may have caused among our fans, stakeholders, and the broader football community. Rest assured, the welfare and unity of our team remain our utmost priority.

"Enyimba FC remains focused on representing Nigeria with pride and excellence in the CAF Confederation Cup, and we appreciate the unwavering support of our fans as we continue this journey together."
