RS Berkane have been crowned champions of the 2024/25 CAF Confederation Cup, securing their third title in the competition after a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Simba SC in Zanzibar. The Moroccan side triumphed 2-1 on aggregate, having won the first leg at home, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

In a tense and emotionally charged second-leg encounter at a packed stadium in Dar es Salaam, Simba SC struck first to spark hopes of a comeback. Joshua Mutale found the back of the net in the 17th minute, finishing coolly after a smart assist from Elie Mpanzu to give the Tanzanian side a 1-0 lead.

However, RS Berkane held firm under pressure and responded in the second half. Soumaila Sidibe delivered the decisive blow, scoring a vital equaliser with a precise right-footed strike from a tight angle, beating goalkeeper Moussa Camara and quieting the home supporters.

Sidibe’s goal not only leveled the match but effectively ended Simba’s dreams of overturning the aggregate deficit. Berkane’s defensive discipline and experience carried them through the remaining minutes to clinch the title.

This latest triumph adds to RS Berkane’s previous Confederation Cup victories in 2020 and 2022, further establishing the club as a dominant force in African football.
