CAFCL: Adiele Disappointed With Enyimba's Exit

Enyimba International, young forward, Adiele Eriugo, has expressed his frustration over the NPFL reigning champions failure to beat Al Ahly Benghazi, in the CAF Champions League preliminary round, The bsnsports.com.ng reports.

The forward who was introduced in the 72nd minutes, to replace Chijioke Mbaoma as Enyimba International played out a goalless draw with the Libyan club in the second leg encounter, on Sunday afternoon, at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba.

While speaking in an exclusive interview, with The BSNSports.com.ng shortly after the game, Adiele revealed his disappointed, but says that luck was not on their side.

" Yes, I think luck was not on our side," said Adiele.

" I believe that if the luck was on our side, we could have won the game. But it wasn't an easy game even though we were at home."

"We played against a well organized defensive team, that had all their ten players behind the ball. We waited for the right moment but unfortunately it didn't come."

The Aba-born forward explained that the mood in the team dressing room wasn't great, says that the players were all unhappy not to win the game.

" Yes, nobody is happy with the result, but it is the game though, we missed something big which we won’t see again until next season." He explained.

"It was a disastrous day for the Enyimba Int'l fans in Aba after the team failed to get the job done at home. and it is also the first time since 2015 that would see the eight-time NPFL champions failed to make it to the second round of the CAF Champions League preliminaries.

Adiele, and the rest of his Enyimba's team mates will now focus on their Pre season preparation ahead of the 2023/24 NPFL season, which is expected to kickoff on September 8, 2023.
