The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed a Libyan refereeing team to officiate the CAF Champions League group-stage encounter between Morocco’s RS Berkane and Nigeria’s Rivers United, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The match will be handled by international referee Moataz Al-Shalmani, who will be assisted by his compatriots Mohamed Mangi (first assistant referee) and Bassem Saif Al-Nasr (second assistant referee), while Al-Mabrouk Mohamed will serve as the fourth official.
The fixture is a crucial Group stage tie with significant implications for qualification. RS Berkane currently sit joint second on seven points, level with Zambia’s Power Dynamos and trailing group leaders FC Pyramids.
For Rivers United, the stakes are even higher as the Nigerian side remain bottom of the group with one point, making the clash a must-win encounter if they are to keep their hopes of progressing in the competition alive.
