CAFCL: CAF Reveals Match Officials For Crucial Semi-Finals

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the match officials for the upcoming semi-final fixtures in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

According to details released by CAF, an Egyptian refereeing crew led by Amin Omar has been appointed to handle the first leg of the Maghreb derby between USM Alger and Olympique Safi. 

The encounter is scheduled to take place in Algeria on Saturday, April 11, with Mahmoud Ashour serving as the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

In another high-profile fixture, an Algerian officiating team headed by Mustapha Ghorbal will take charge of the CAF Champions League semi-final first leg between Esperance and Mamelodi Sundowns. 

The match will be played at the Rades Stadium on Sunday, April 12.

For the return leg in South Africa, CAF has appointed Mahmoud Ashour as the VAR official, working alongside Somali referee Omar Qartan.

Meanwhile, South African referee Tom Abongile will officiate the clash between CR Belouizdad and Zamalek at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algeria on Friday, April 10.

For the return leg scheduled for Friday, April 17 at the Cairo International Stadium, Sudanese referee Mahmoud Ismail has been appointed to take charge of proceedings.

The appointments, confirmed by a source within the CAF Referees Committee, underline the governing body’s effort to ensure high officiating standards in the decisive stages of Africa’s premier club competitions.
