CAFCL: Crisis Hits Al Ahly As Players Face Salary Cuts, Scouting Team Sacked
Sampson Adedeji
Egyptian giants Al Ahly SC have been plunged into crisis following their disappointing exit from the CAF Champions League, with the club taking drastic internal measures, BSNSports.com.ng reports
The club management has announced the dismissal of the entire scouting department as part of a sweeping restructuring process aimed at overhauling the team’s recruitment system.
The decision comes amid growing concerns over recent performances and player acquisitions.
In addition to the backroom shake-up, the club has also imposed financial sanctions on the players.
Reports indicate that a 15 percent deduction has been applied to the annual salaries of the squad as a disciplinary measure following their continental setback.
Al Ahly are now expected to rebuild their scouting network from scratch, with plans already underway to establish a new structure that will focus on identifying and recruiting top talent capable of restoring the club’s dominance.
The developments underline the seriousness with which the club is responding to their early exit, as they seek to quickly regain their competitive edge both domestically and on the African stage.
