CAFCL: Medeama Sees Remo Stars As Underdog - Ogunmodede
Sampson Adedeji
Ahead of the first leg of the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League, the head coach of Remo Stars Daniel Ogunmodede said their Ghanaian opponent Medeama SC sees them as underdog, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Medeama SC emerged as the winner of the Ghana premier league for the first time in their history.
They've been paired against the Nigeria league runners-up in the preliminary round of the champions league.
Both clubs are new to the competition as they are making their debut this year.
While speaking to Punch Correspondent, Ogunmodede confirmed that they knew nothing about their opponent but they were ready.
“For sure, it should be an added advantage for us going to Ghana first and the experience we’ve had from the CAF Confederation Cup last season should also help put us in the right frame of mind.
“We’ve long forgotten about the issue of fatigue as I mentioned that period was playing the Naija Super 8 just days after the league season ended.
“The players have been able to rest for some days now and we are only thinking of preparing them physically and mentally for the task ahead.
For now, we are yet to get vital information about Medeama SC, all we have now is that they’re privately owned like us and imagine them taking all big teams in Ghana to the cleaners and are a force to be reckoned with.
“Unfortunately, we don’t have much information and we look like an underdog to them already,†he stated.
