CAFCL: Rivers United Pick Crucial Away Draw In DR Congo
Precious Oham
Nigeria's Rivers United secured a crucial draw off their hosts, Les Aigles du Congo in the 2025/26 CAF Champions League preliminary round encounter, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Pride of Rivers held the Congolese side to a barren draw at the Kingshasa-Complexe Omnisports Stade des Martyrs in Kinshasa, DR Congo.
Finidi George fielded a strong starting eleven with Ajibolade Annor and AbdulRafiu Taiwo continuing at right back after impressive performances in the domestic league.
One of the team's warriors and skipper, Temple Emekayi returned to the starting lineup including Ubong Friday who started from the flanks.
The encounter failed to produce the much-needed spark for the duration of 90 minutes as both sides settled for a draw after full time while goalkeeper, Osagie Onisidumeya kept a clean sheet to mark his birthday.
It is all to play in the second leg between the Congolese champions and the Price of Rivers next weekend at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
