Nigeria's representatives in the 2026/27 CAF inter-club competitions Rangers International, Rivers United, Shooting Stars, and El Kanemi Warriors are guaranteed a financial boost from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), even if they fail to progress beyond the preliminary rounds, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
CAF has announced that every club eliminated during the preliminary stages of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup will receive a solidarity payment of USD 100,000.
The initiative forms part of CAF's broader commitment to strengthening African club football by providing financial support to participating teams and encouraging greater involvement in its flagship inter-club competitions.
The development means Nigeria's four representatives will each receive the financial support should they exit the competitions in the opening qualifying rounds.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe said the governing body remains committed to investing in clubs across the continent, stressing that more teams should benefit from CAF's growing commercial success and football development programmes.
The solidarity payments are expected to ease the financial burden on participating clubs while helping them improve their structures and remain competitive on the continental stage.
