CAFCL Draw: Rivers United, Plateau United Face Tough Routes

Just as reported, the African soccer governing body has conducted the draw for the 2022/2023 champions league and it was a road for Nigeria's representatives, BSNsports.com.ng has gathered

Rivers United emerged the winner of the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League to qualify for the champions league while Plateau United also qualified for the same tournament as they finished the league as the first runners-up.

The draw was conducted in Cairo, Egypt on Tuesday afternoon and Rivers United was drawn against Liberia champions Watanga FC while Plateau United will trade tackles with the Gabonese side Aso Stade Mandji in the preliminary rounds.

Qualifying for the second round means that the Nigeria side will have to contend with the North African side for a place in the final round.

The Pride of Rivers will face defending Champions Wydad Casablanca of Morocco if they defeated the Liberia side.

Plateau United on their part will face former champions Esperance of Tunisia if they overcome the Gabonese side over the two legs.

Enyimba FC remained the only Nigeria team to have won the competition .
