Peace Essien, who got the crucial equalizer in the 94th minute for Edo Queens against Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies said they never gave up, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Essien could hardly contain her joy after Edo Queens’ 2-1 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns.

She said: "I am happy, I am happy, that is all I can say. We didn’t believe this would happen, but with the spirit of never giving up, we did it."

Essien’s late strike and tireless energy were pivotal, setting the stage for the final blow that sealed Edo Queens’ remarkable comeback.

With the win, Edo Queens not only topped their group but also made history as the first Nigerian team to reach the semi-finals of the competition.

They will square up against TP Mazembe of DR Congo in the semi-finals.
