CAS Confirms October 8 Hearing For AFCON 2025 Final Dispute

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has fixed October 8, 2026, as the hearing date for the appeal over the disputed outcome of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The hearing will take place in Lausanne, Switzerland, involving the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).

The appeal stems from CAF's decision to award Morocco a 3-0 victory by forfeit in the AFCON 2025 final after ruling that Senegal had forfeited the match.

Senegal is seeking to have that decision overturned and is asking CAS to recognize the Teranga Lions as the rightful champions of the tournament.

According to CAS, the proceedings will be conducted behind closed doors, with no final decision expected to be announced on the day of the hearing.

The sports arbitration body also cautioned the public against relying on unverified reports circulating online, emphasizing that only information released through its official communication channels should be regarded as authentic.
