CAS Set To Throw Out FECAFOOT President Samuel Eto'o

The current president of the Federation of Cameroon Football Association( FECAFOOT) Samuel Eto'o set to be thrown out of office if found guilty by the Court of Arbitration For Sports, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Various threats hanged over his mandate, jeopardising his position at the head of the governing body of football in Cameroon.

A procedure in progress before the CAS A legal procedure is currently in progress before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). 

It follows a challenge to the resolutions of the General Assembly of August 27, 2022, and this mainly concerns the legitimacy of Samuel Eto'o as president of Fécafoot, questioning the convening of said assembly. 

According to his opponents, Eto'o no longer had the quality of president of Fécafoot since June 20, 2022, the date of his sentence in Spain of 22 months in prison for tax evasion.

The case was brought before the CAS by Guibaï Gautama and certain members of the General Assembly. 

A hearing was held on June 7, 2023. The CAS now has 120 days to render its verdict. If Samuel Eto'o is declared unfit to lead FECAFOOT, he will have to vacate the office.

The second threat hangs over Samuel Eto'o, it is linked to questions of ethics and integrity. 

Among these cases, the one related to the contract that the former Indomitable Lions striker recently signed with a sports betting company, designating him as an ambassador of this company. 

This investigation is being carried out in confidentiality and the results can have serious consequences if the facts presented are proven and in violation of the FIFA Code of Ethics.
