Patrice Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), has explained the reasoning behind the increase in prize money for the 2024 Championship of African Nations (CHAN), BSNSports.com.ng reports.

On Tuesday, Motsepe announced a $3.5 million reward for the winner of the upcoming tournament.

He emphasized the significance of the competition for the continent's football development.

"The CHAN is crucial for the growth and advancement of Africa-based footballers and young talent, and it will play a key role in enhancing the global competitiveness of African football and CAF competitions," Motsepe stated.
