CHAN 2023: Ghana Black Galaxies Arrive Accra In Heroic Welcome After Denying Super Eagles B Team

Ghana’s Black Galaxies arrived home a heroic welcome after eliminating the Super Eagles B team of Nigeria from the 2023 Africa Nations Championship qualifiers, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Black Galaxies book a place in the CHAN tournament to be staged in Algeria in 2023 after beating Nigeria on penalties 5-4.

Super Eagles B team did stage a dream comeback against their arch-rivals Ghana, who started the 2nd leg qualifying round at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja with a two-goal advantage.

Plateau United striker Zulkilfilu Muhammed gave Nigeria a lifeline scoring the first goal of the match as the result stood at 1-2 aggregate with 14 minutes to end the tie.

With hopes seemingly impossible, Rivers United and NPFL top goal scorer for last season, Chijioke Akuneto broke the camel's back as he found the back of Ghana's goal with a stoppage-time equalizing goal to force the tie into penalty shootouts.

But it was not to be for Coach Salisu Yusuf and his team as they missed out on the penalty shootout.

Ghana returns to the competition after missing out on the last three editions.
