The Super Eagles drew 1-1 in their friendly match against Plateau United played on Tuesday afternoon at the Practice Pitch of Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
The two teams each missed spot kicks in the first half. Maurice Chukwu accounted for that of Super Eagles, while Jesse Akila was the culprit in the colours of United.
Plateau United stunned Super Eagles through Sunday Anthony whose brilliant free kick beat the Super Eagles B defense and Adeyinka.
Tosin Adegbite, Tope Olusesi and Christopher Nwaeze are the three starters to protect Super Eagles goalkeeper, Adeyinka Adewale.
Chiamaka Madu, Philip Ozor, Maurice Chukwu and Afeez Nosir were also named in the starting line up.
Chidiebere Nwobodo, Chijioke Akuneto and Valentine Odoh completed the Super Eagles starting XI.
First half ended 1-0 in favour of the CAF Champions League bound Plateau United.
Ojo Olorunleke, Andy Okpe, Bello Babatunde and Ossy Martins were thrown into the fray early in the second stanza.
The changes proved to be positive for the Super Eagles as Ossy Martins netted the equalizer.
Coach Salisu Yusuf made wholesale changes which included Samson Gbadebo and Samuel Amadi.
Jimmy Ambrose was sent off and Plateau United were reduced to 10 men but Eagles failed to capitalize.
The Eagles will square up against the Black Galaxies in the first leg of the African Nations Championship Qualifiers at Cape Coast on Sunday, 28th August with the return encounter billed for the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Saturday, 3rd September.
The winner on aggregate will earn a berth at the 7th African Nations Championship finals to be staged in Algeria early next year.
