The Congolese Football Federation (FECOFOOT) has announced the appointment of Barthélémy Ngatsono as head coach of the Congo A’ national team ahead of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Ngatsono returns to the national scene after previously managing the senior Red Devils and now takes charge of Congo’s home-based squad as they aim for their fifth CHAN appearance.

Joining him on the technical bench is assistant coach Cédric Nanitelamio, with both coaches recently acquiring CAF A coaching licenses a move that reflects Congo’s commitment to meeting continental football standards.

Congo finds itself in Group D, labelled the tournament’s “group of death,” alongside defending champions Senegal, Nigeria’s Super Eagles, and Sudan.

The 2024 CHAN tournament will run from August 2 to 30 and will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania under the “Pamoja East Africa” initiative.
