Following Sudan’s emphatic 4-0 demolition of Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles, the Sudanese Football Federation has rewarded head coach Kwesi Appiah with what they termed a “blank cheque,” BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Falcons of Sudan, guided by the Ghanaian tactician, dominated the second group match of the 2024 African Nations Championship, a result that propelled them to the top of the group and within touching distance of the knockout stage.

According to the Federation, Appiah’s blank cheque will only be honored under specific conditions winning the ongoing CHAN, clinching the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, and securing qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Sudan has already sealed their place at the 2025 AFCON, where it will compete in Group E alongside Equatorial Guinea, Burkina Faso, and Algeria. In the World Cup qualifiers, they currently sit third with 12 points, just behind DR Congo (13 points) and Senegal (also 12 points but ahead on goal difference).

Their final group match at CHAN will be against Senegal, where even a draw would see them progress to the knockout phase.
