CHAN 2024 Playoffs: Egypt To Field U20 Team Against South Africa

The Egypt Football Association has confirmed that its U20 team will represent the country in the upcoming CHAN 2024 playoff clash against South Africa, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

This decision comes after the recent draw conducted by CAF, which paired Egypt with South Africa in the playoff round.

Egypt opted for the U20 side due to a scheduling conflict, as the senior team’s participation in the CHAN qualifiers coincides with preparations for the U20 AFCON in Ivory Coast, scheduled from April 26 to May 18.

The CHAN final qualifiers will be held between May 4 and May 11, further complicating Egypt's ability to field a full-strength senior team.

Fixture Dates: First Leg: South Africa vs. Egypt — February 28, March 1 or 2 (Johannesburg)

Second Leg: Egypt vs. South Africa — March 7, 8 or 9 (Cairo)

The winner of this tie will secure a spot in the CHAN 2024 tournament, which features locally-based players across Africa.
