COEASU Chairman Visits NTA, Calls For Support For Inter-collegiate Basketball

As plans to organize an intercollegiate Basketball Championship among the Colleges of Education in North Central Nigeria advance, the organizers are actively reaching out to stakeholders for maximum support before, during, and after the event, reports BSNSports.com.ng.
Dr. Saad Ibrahim, the Chairman of the Colleges of Education Association of Staff Union (COEASU), Zuba branch, visited the NTA Sports Channel at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja to seek cooperation in achieving their goals.
Accompanied by Dr. Abdulwahab Lawal, the Director of Organization for the Championship, Dr. Ibrahim emphasized that the aim of the event is to popularize basketball among students in the North Central region.
He congratulated the Channel for its significant efforts in promoting grassroots sports, stating that the Championship will also help identify and develop more talent within the institutions.
In line with this, Dr. Abdulwahab Lawal mentioned that once they achieve success in the North Central region, the initiative will extend to other Colleges of Education across the country.
In response, Kayode Adeniyi, the General Manager of NTA Sports Channel, commended COEASU for this initiative.
He advised that the talents discovered during the championship should be closely monitored and supported in both their education and chosen sports.
Meanwhile, Alhaji Adam Mouktar Mohammed, Chairman of the FCT Football Association, called for stronger collaboration between sports administrators and the media.
He made this appeal during a courtesy visit to Kayode Adeniyi's office.
While commending journalists for their contributions to the development and growth of sports, particularly football in the FCT and Nigeria, he expressed gratitude to the media for their commitment and effective oversight in the sports sector.
Accompanied by Mrs. Pat Ayegba-Jubril, an FCT FA board member and head of the women’s football committee, Alhaji Adam Mouktar stated that the FCT FA Board is open to innovative ideas that will further enhance football development in the FCT, especially with the upcoming inaugural FCT FA Inter-Area Councils Women’s Tournament, scheduled to begin on April 10, 2025.
He congratulated Kayode Adeniyi on his appointment as General Manager of NTA Sports and urged him to utilize his expertise to improve media coverage of sports in the FCT and Nigeria overall.
In response, Kayode Adeniyi commended the board under Alhaji Adam Mouktar’s leadership for their bold initiatives in advancing football in the Federal Capital Territory.
He assured them that the station would continue to provide adequate coverage for all events organized by the board.
