Canada Edge South Africa To Become First Team Through To World Cup Last 16

Stephen Eustaquio struck a dramatic stoppage-time winner as co-hosts Canada defeated South Africa 1-0 to become the first team to secure a place in the FIFA World Cup Round of 16, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

With the match seemingly destined for extra time, Eustaquio finally broke South Africa's resilient defence in the second minute of added time. The midfielder expertly controlled the ball inside the penalty area before firing a composed half-volley into the far corner, leaving goalkeeper Ronwen Williams with no chance.

South Africa produced a determined defensive display for much of the contest, frustrating the hosts despite sustained Canadian pressure.
