As Cape Verde prepare for a pivotal Group Stage encounter against Uruguay, Vozinha will be buoyed by the presence of his father, Jose Pedro Dias, and brother, Delmiro Évora Nascimento, who have travelled to the United States to support him. Born Josimar José Évora Dias, Vozinha's football roots run deep. His father revealed that he was named after former Brazilian defender Josimar, one of the stars of the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico.

"I watched Brazil at that tournament and was captivated by the team," Dias recalled. "Josimar stood out to me because of his performances and the goals he scored. That is where the inspiration for my son's name came from."

For Dias, watching his son excel on the World Cup stage represents a source of immense pride—not only for their family but for the entire Cape Verdean nation.

"As a father, I am incredibly proud," he said. "Every Cape Verdean is proud right now. What this team is achieving is something many of us never imagined possible."

Vozinha's brother echoed those sentiments, describing the experience as unforgettable.

"It is difficult to put this moment into words," he said. "To play at a World Cup, face a team like Spain and perform at such a high level is something every professional footballer dreams of."

The excitement surrounding Cape Verde's historic World Cup campaign has also galvanized supporters from across the globe. Fans dressed in the blue colours of the national flag gathered at the team's training base in Tampa, creating a festive atmosphere as preparations continued for the Uruguay encounter.

Among them was Benjamin Ferrera, a member of the Cape Verdean diaspora living in Massachusetts, home to one of the largest Cape Verdean communities outside the island nation.

Ferrera described the draw against Spain as one of the greatest moments in the country's football history.

"Nobody expected it," he said. "We are a nation of about 500,000 people spread across small islands. To compete on this stage and earn a result against Spain is incredible."

Massachusetts is often referred to as Cape Verde's "11th Island" because of its large expatriate population, and many supporters have travelled considerable distances to back the team during the tournament.

The enthusiasm reflects the significance of Cape Verde's debut appearance at the World Cup. The Atlantic archipelago became the only one of the tournament's four first-time participants to avoid defeat in its opening match, underlining the belief growing around the squad.

Supporters' group organizer Andreia Levy said confidence within the fan base had never wavered.
