Champions League: "I Was Calm And Kept Focus Against Rangers - Calvin Bassey

Super Eagles and Ajax Amsterdam defender Calvin Bassey said there was a lot of emotion towards his debut in the UEFA Champions League, BSNSports.com.ng has gathered.

Bassey on Wednesday made his Champions League debut against his former team Rangers of Scotland a few weeks after he left them.

The Dutch champions won the game convincingly and Bassey made an assist in the four goals scored.

While speaking to a Dutch news outlet, Bassey said there were a lot of emotions for him but he just stayed calm and play his game.

" It was a special evening, with a lot of emotion also towards the match. I had to stay calm and keep my focus on the game, on doing what my coach asks of me to help the team win. We did well, I think we can do even better. 

"We always strive for perfection and will analyze where we can still make jumps.

"I've been here a month and a half and I think I'm picking things up quite nicely. It is only a matter of time before my teammates and I will understand each other even better", he told Ziggo Sports.
