Champions League, Confederation Cup Preliminary Round Matches May Not Be Broadcast Live

Football fans have been advised that not every match in the preliminary rounds of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup may be available for live television or online streaming this weekend, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

At the preliminary-round stage, the home team is responsible for arranging the live broadcast of its match and is required to reach an agreement with a broadcaster to provide coverage.

As a result, some matches may not be broadcast live, while others could be available only through streams of varying quality, depending on the production and broadcasting arrangements made by the host club.

Fans have therefore been urged not to direct complaints at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) if they are unable to watch their club's match live or encounter poor-quality streaming.

CAF's direct responsibility for broadcasting begins from the group stage onwards, when the continental football governing body takes charge of broadcast arrangements for its club competitions.

The clarification is expected to help fans understand the broadcasting structure ahead of this weekend's preliminary-round fixtures in both the Champions League and Confederation Cup.

Therefore, fans should not expect every preliminary-round match to have the same broadcast coverage or production quality, as the responsibility at this stage rests primarily with the respective home clubs.
