English Premier League champions Liverpool suffered their second consecutive defeat of the season as they fell 1-0 to Galatasaray on Matchday 2 of the UEFA Champions League, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen, who recently returned from injury, was the hero of the night for the Turkish Super Lig champions.

The Super Eagles striker calmly converted a first-half penalty to hand Galatasaray their first win of the campaign.

Liverpool, despite dominating possession and creating several chances, failed to find a way past the resilient Galatasaray defence.

The defeat piles pressure on Arne Slots men, who had already lost their opening game and now sit bottom of their group with two defeats in two games.

For Galatasaray, the victory sparks life into their Champions League hopes, with Osimhen once again showing his quality on Europe’s biggest stage.
