Portuguese Primera Liga champions FC Porto reached the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League in style on Tuesday with a 2-1 win over the Spanish La Liga side Atletico Madrid, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Nigeria's Super Eagles defender Zaidu Sanusi started the game but was unable to finish it as he was substituted in the 53rd minute of the encounter.

Taremi netted the opening goal in the 5th minutes before Estaquio made it 2-0 just before the half time.

The Nigeria international was replaced by the Brazilian international Wendell after he sustained an injury and was unable to continue the match.

Marcano scored an own goal and ensured that the game ended 2-1 as Porto finished on top of the group with 12 points in 6 matches.
