Championship: I Want To Remain Focused - Akpom

Inform Nigeria-born star Chuba Akpom has expressed his excitement and at the same time stay focused for the rest of the season, BSNSports.com.ng understand.

Akpom was the hero on Boxing Day at Riverside stadium as he scored a hat trick in Middlesbrough's 4-1 win over Wigan Athletic.

While speaking to the club media, Akpom was happy about the outcome of the game most especially having his family present in the stadium.

"What a day. That was my first time playing at a full Riverside and my family were here and my little man was here so what a day to get a hat-trick! I’m so happy. Days like that are just so special and why we love football.

"I just tried to be in the right places at the right time and it’s a good thing that I’m scoring, but it’s even better that we’re getting the wins. 

I’m really happy for the team because we can’t do it without each other. We couldn’t do anything without each other so it wouldn’t be fair for all the focus to just be on me. 

We’re all together and we’ll all keep our feet on the ground and stay focused for the rest of the season", he said.
