Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick has expressed confidence in Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho, emphasizing his potential impact on the team this season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

During the international break, Iheanacho focused on personal training, ensuring he remained in peak condition for the league's resumption.

Speaking to Teesside Live, Carrick, a former Manchester United midfielder, praised the Super Eagles striker’s professionalism and dedication.

 "That’s what it takes now. Kel is definitely a big part of the group—his experience and character make him important. The way he trains and conducts himself is a great example for the younger lads," Carrick said.

 "It took him a few games to reach full sharpness and fitness, but I’m sure he’ll have a big impact on us between now and the end of the season."

Carrick also highlighted Iheanacho’s strong mentality, noting the extra effort he puts in behind the scenes.

 "His additional training and self-care reflect his attitude and mindset. People don’t always see that side of a player, especially during an international break. But these days, things like that are more visible than ever."
