The manager of English Championship side Coventry City, Frank Lampard, has praised Nigerian international Frank Onyeka following his superb goal against Derby County, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Coventry City secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Derby County on Friday, with Onyeka opening the scoring in style.

Reacting after the game, Lampard lauded the midfielder’s overall contribution, highlighting both his work rate and technical quality in the buildup to the goal.

“It was brilliant from Frank, not just the finish, but the winning the ball back and Cruyffing near the touch line and then going and joining in again to receive the pass from Romain Esse in the box,” Lampard said.

The former Chelsea boss further emphasized that Onyeka’s performance reflected exactly why the club brought him in, while expressing satisfaction at seeing the Nigerian get on the scoresheet.

“It’s the attributes that we brought him in to do, but the special thing is the goal. I felt a goal was coming for Frank. 

He’s quite hungry to get in there and has got the capacity to arrive and shoot, and it was a fantastic goal,” he added.

Onyeka’s strike set the tone for Coventry’s victory, as the Sky Blues held on to claim all three points in an entertaining encounter.
