Championship: Super Eagles Prodigy Joins West Bromich Albion

Barely four days to the start of the 2023/2024 English Championship season, West Bromwich Albion has announced the signing of Nigeria's Super Eagles striker Josh Maja, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Maja started his professional career in England with Sunderland before joining the French Ligue side Girondin Bordeaux.

The hardworking forward almost returned to the championship last season with Birmingham before the discussion collapsed and he returned to Bordeaux.

Maja had a splendid outing with Bordeaux last season scoring 16 goals before he departed at the end of the season.

West Brom announced his arrival on Tuesday afternoon through the club's official website.

"Josh Maja will be West Bromwich Albion’s new No.9.

The forward has penned a three-year deal which will keep him at The Hawthorns until the summer of 2026 following previous stints at Sunderland, Fulham, Stoke City and Bordeaux", the club said.
