The highly anticipated Kinshasa Derby between AS Vita Club and DC Motema Pembe ended in chaos on Sunday, overshadowing the 1-1 scoreline with violent scenes that unfolded after the final whistle, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The emotionally charged fixture, played at the Stade des Martyrs, took an ugly turn when rival supporters invaded the pitch and engaged in physical confrontations.

Security personnel were forced to intervene as players and officials rushed to safety. What should have been a celebration of Congolese football passion quickly descended into disorder, raising fresh concerns about crowd management and safety at high-profile matches in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Despite the dramatic equalizing goals from both sides, football became secondary as the derby was once again marred by violence.

Authorities are expected to launch an investigation into the incident, with possible sanctions looming for the clubs involved.
