Éric Chelle has strengthened his squad for the upcoming Unity Cup in London with the addition of two players as preparations intensify for the invitational tournament, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Super Eagles coach had earlier announced a 27-man squad for the competition but has now included Collins Yira Sor and Tijani Al-Ameen in the team ahead of departure to England.
Sor, who plays for K.R.C. Genk, returns to the national team after previously featuring in friendly matches against Iran and Jordan in March. His inclusion provides additional attacking options on the wings as Chelle continues to assess his squad ahead of future international assignments.
Defender Tijani Al-Ameen, currently with Shooting Stars Sports Club, receives his maiden senior national team invitation following a series of impressive performances in the Nigeria Premier Football League.
His call-up reflects Chelle’s willingness to broaden his defensive options while rewarding standout performers from the domestic league.
Meanwhile, Zadok Yohanna will miss the Unity Cup after his Swedish club, AIK Fotboll, declined to release him for the tournament.
The absence of the highly rated winger created a gap in the attacking department, with Sor’s return appearing to address that concern.
The Super Eagles are expected to depart for London on Friday as they step up preparations for the Unity Cup, where the tournament will serve as an opportunity for the coaching crew to evaluate tactical systems and player performances ahead of upcoming international fixtures.
