Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has arrived in Nigeria as part of preparations to assess domestic talent ahead of upcoming international competitions, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Franco-Malian tactician is expected to attend at least two Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matches, where he will evaluate home-based players in contention for national team selection.

Chelle has indicated that several NPFL players could earn invitations to represent Nigeria at the forthcoming Unity Cup in London. Observing players during league fixtures, he noted, will provide a clearer picture of those deserving a place in the Super Eagles squad.

The exercise will also serve as part of the selection process for players likely to be called up for the Championship of African Nations (CHAN) qualifiers, a competition reserved for footballers active in their domestic leagues.

The four-nation Unity Cup—featuring Nigeria, Jamaica, Zimbabwe, and India—is scheduled to take place from May 26 to 30, 2026.

Matches will be held at The Valley, the home ground of Charlton Athletic FC, located in South London. The tournament is aimed at celebrating diaspora communities while providing competitive international exposure for the participating teams.
