Chelle Confirms $130,000 Salary Request and 19 Conditions in NFF Talks
By BSN Sports
Nigeria national football team head coach Eric Chelle has confirmed that he submitted a formal list of conditions — including a proposed $130,000 monthly salary — during ongoing contract negotiations with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Chelle has been in discussions with the National Sports Commission (NSC) since guiding Nigeria to a third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in January. Talks over an improved contract have continued in the months following that achievement.
Details of the negotiations were recently leaked to the media, with reports alleging that Chelle requested a monthly salary of €130,000 along with enhanced working conditions. The coach has now clarified that the circulated document is authentic but stressed that the salary figure was stated in US dollars, not euros.
“Today, if I’m being honest, I don’t really know. The first question I ask myself is how this document could have ended up in the media. That’s the question I’m asking myself,” Chelle said in an interview with the Histoires de Foot Podcast.
The Malian coach further explained that the proposed $130,000 monthly package would cover not only his salary but also the wages of his technical staff.
Chelle’s comments shed light on the scale of his demands while raising concerns over confidentiality during sensitive contract discussions, as negotiations with Nigerian football authorities continue.
