Chelle Eyes AFCON Triumph and World Cup Dream Ahead of Contract Year
By BSN Sports
Nigeria national team head coach Eric Chelle has reaffirmed his ambition to deliver major international honours, declaring his desire to win both the Africa Cup of Nations and the FIFA World Cup with the Super Eagles, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Speaking on the Histoires de Foot Podcast, Chelle reflected on his professional aspirations as he approaches the final year of his current contract. The 48-year-old outlined a long-term vision centered on growth, achievement and competing at the highest level of world football.
“I have a framework to help me grow as a coach,” Chelle said. “Not long ago, I mentioned that my dream was to be the first African coach at Real Madrid. But I have other goals as well. I want to win the Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria.
“If we had advanced further, I would have loved to qualify for the World Cup and even lift the trophy. I have many dreams. At 48, I’m still young and eager to achieve them.”
Chelle guided Nigeria to a third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, securing a bronze medal and strengthening belief in the team’s upward trajectory.
With key international fixtures on the horizon, his comments underline a clear intent to build on recent progress and position Nigeria as genuine contenders for continental and global titles in the coming years.
