Chelle Hands Nwaiwu First Super Eagles Call-Up

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has handed a late invitation to Chibuike Nwaiwu as a replacement for injured Calvin Bassey ahead of the upcoming international friendlies, BSNSports.com.ng reports 

Nwaiwu, who currently plays for Trabzonspor, comes in following the withdrawal of Bassey, who has been ruled out due to injury.

The call-up marks a significant milestone for the former Enyimba defender, as he earns his first-ever invitation to the senior national team.

The 21-year-old has been on Chelle’s radar in recent months, with his performances in Turkey attracting attention and accelerating his inclusion in the squad .

Nwaiwu is expected to link up with the team ahead of Nigeria’s friendly matches against Iran and Jordan, as the Super Eagles continue preparations for upcoming international competitions.
