Nigeria's Chigozie Rosemary Nwankwo has secured a place in the semi-finals of the women's 100 metres at the World U20 Championships in Eugene after an impressive performance in the heats, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Nwankwo clocked 11.57 seconds to finish third in her heat, doing enough to progress to the next round of the competition.

The heat was won by Mariah Maxwell, who crossed the finish line in 11.33 seconds. Nwankwo's qualification adds to Team Nigeria's participation at the championships as the country's young athletes continue their quest for success on the global stage.
