China Smash: Aruna Quadri Admits Defeat To Stronger Opponent
Sampson Adedeji
Nigeria’s table tennis star, Aruna Quadri, has conceded that Danish player Anders Lind was the better man after bowing out of the ongoing China Smash tournament, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Quadri suffered a straight-sets 3-0 loss to Lind in the round of 64, marking an early exit from the competition.
Reflecting on the encounter, the world number 14 admitted he struggled to handle his opponent’s service game.
“It’s the first time I played against him. It’s really hard. The biggest problem was his serve. I think if I were able to return some of the serves better, maybe things could have turned in my favour. But overall, I did my best, and that’s what matters most,” he told CGTN Sports Scene.
Despite the setback, Quadri expressed gratitude to the Chinese supporters for their unwavering encouragement.
“I must say thanks to all the Chinese fans. They kept me going all the time. They supported me a lot, and I want to say thanks to them.”
