Clashes Mar CAF Champions League Final First Leg Between Sundowns and AS FAR

Crowd disturbances overshadowed the first leg of the CAF Champions League final between Mamelodi Sundowns and AS FAR, as clashes erupted between supporters and security personnel during the encounter, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The incident involved sections of AS FAR fans and officers of the South African Police Service, leading to a tense atmosphere inside the stadium. 

Eyewitnesses reported that the confrontation broke out in the stands, briefly disrupting the flow of the match.

Security officials were forced to intervene to restore order, although the situation heightened concerns over fan safety and matchday security at one of Africa’s biggest club fixtures.

Organisers are yet to release an official statement detailing the cause of the incident or confirming if there were injuries or arrests. 

Further updates are expected as investigations continue into the disturbances.

The return leg is anticipated to proceed under increased security measures to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.
