Clubs Risk Expulsion, Loss Of Registration – NLO Warns

The Nationwide League One (NLO) Secretariat has issued a strong warning to member clubs over participation in unauthorised private leagues, stating that offenders risk expulsion and deregistration from the national football system, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

In a formal communication released by the league’s regulatory body, clubs were reminded of their obligation to comply strictly with regulations set by FIFA, the Football Association, and the NLO.

The statement noted with concern that some clubs have recently engaged in private league competitions, actions which directly contravene the guidelines contained in the NLO rulebook.

According to FIFA and FA National League System regulations, clubs are prohibited from competing in private leagues while also participating within the official national league pyramid in the same season.

 The NLO emphasised that clubs must remain within a single recognised governing structure.

The Secretariat warned that violations of this rule could attract severe disciplinary measures, including expulsion from the league structure and full deregistration.

It further urged clubs to consider the long-term consequences of their decisions and to prioritise adherence to the established framework in order to protect the integrity of the game.

The NLO also disclosed plans to introduce post-season engagement programmes aimed at keeping clubs active and competitive after the regular league campaign concludes.
