Coaching Reshuffle: Newly Appointed Golden Eaglets, Falconets Coaches Resume Duty On Sunday

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the appointments of two seasoned tacticians, Manu Garba and Moses Aduku, as head coaches of the Golden Eaglets (U-17 Boys) and Falconets (U-20 Girls), respectively, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The decision was approved by the NFF Executive Committee following recommendations from the Federation’s Technical and Development Sub-Committee.

Garba, a familiar and successful figure in Nigerian youth football, returns to the Golden Eaglets — a team he famously guided to win the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2013 in the United Arab Emirates. He also led the squad to the 2019 edition of the tournament in Brazil and has previously served in the same role on multiple occasions.

For the Falconets, the NFF has appointed Moses Aduku, one of the country’s most respected women’s football coaches. Aduku replaces Chris Danjuma and brings with him an impressive résumé, having managed top-flight sides Bayelsa Queens and Edo Queens with distinction. He also served as assistant coach during the Falconets’ 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup campaign in Costa Rica, where the team reached the quarter-finals.

Both coaches are expected to assume duties officially on Sunday, ahead of critical assignments for their respective teams in September.

The Falconets will face Rwanda in a 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier, while the Golden Eaglets will compete in the WAFU B U-17 Tournament — a regional championship Nigeria is set to host.

These strategic appointments are seen as part of the NFF’s broader efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s youth football system and build on the country’s historic successes at international age-grade competitions.
