Nigeria's Goodness Nwachukwu delivered a sensational performance to claim the gold medal in the women's F42-44/F61-64 discus throw at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Nwachukwu saved her best effort for the final round, producing a remarkable throw of 39.66m to set a new F42 World Record, surpassing her previous mark by more than three metres and securing the Commonwealth title in stunning fashion.
The record-breaking throw capped an outstanding competition for the Nigerian para-athlete, who showcased resilience and composure to produce the winning effort when it mattered most.
Wales claimed the remaining podium places, with Funmi Oduwaiye taking the silver medal after a throw of 38.52m, while compatriot Bree Cronin secured bronze with a best effort of 36.00m.
Nwachukwu's triumph adds another gold medal to Team Nigeria's impressive campaign at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games while reinforcing her status as one of the world's leading para discus throwers.
